Publications circulating on social media have claimed that the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) failed to send funds to the victims of the flood tragedy in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, instead investing R$ 50 million in Madonna’s concern in Rio de Janeiro. This is false. The singer’s concert cost R$ 60 million, with R$ 40 million funded by sponsors such as the Itaú bank. The rest was split between the City Hall and the State Government of Rio.
