Viral video showing dead cattle is unrelated to the MST

A video showing seventeen dead cattle went viral. It claims that the animals which appear in the images were cut in half by members of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) on a rural property in Santa Catarina. It is fake.

The video was not recorded in Santa Catarina, much less does it show MST action. In the early hours of April 18, criminals tried to steal cattle from a farm located in the municipality of Conde, on the north coast of the state of Bahia. The Civil Police of Bahia informed, in a note sent by e-mail, that two suspects were located and that there is no indication of the involvement of members of the MST in the criminal action. According to the institution, seventeen animals were stolen and some of them dissected. Via WhatsApp, Lupa’s readers suggested that this content should be analyzed. Read more on Lupa’s website.
