AI, climate and voting machines: study indicates disinformation risks for the elections

The advance of artificial intelligence (AI) has been the cause of concern for researchers, who believe the technology could be used in disinformation campaigns in order to expand false narratives and manipulate public opinion, especially during the 2024 municipal elections. That is one of the conclusions of the report “Election Integrity in the Digital Age: Online Risks and Recommendations for the Brazilian Municipal Elections”, produced by the Media and Democracy project, an FGV initiative in partnership with the European Union.
